May 2024: Waterfall

Spring is fully underway here in MI, with flowers blooming, grass growing, and...water falling! It is nice to see more of the sun, and I have been spending as much time in it as I can.

Been busy of late, and am looking forward to a couple days away from it all this coming weekend.

Not much to say this month, just that I hope that wherever you are you can take some time to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature.

I just realized something. Your shots never include motion. This is the first pic I have seen from you showing motion!

LOL! A friend of mine once said that there is no such thing as a still life...everything is in motion, even if it is moving too slowly to detect with our eyes. :)
You make an interesting observation. I never really thought about it, but it makes sense given that the bulk of my work has been landscapes and wildlife. Wildlife is in constant motion of course, and that is how people picture them in their minds and expect to see them in photos...cheetahs running, hummingbirds flying, etc. I tend to try to present wildlife in ways that you are not used to seeing them. Cheetahs napping, hummingbirds perched, tigers from 3 feet away, etc. That often translates into more portrait-like shots than action shots. It also makes them more intimate, which is also usually one of the goals of my wildlife shoots. So I don't do a whole lot of action shooting, though I don't avoid it either. Whatever suits the shot, whatever best presents the subject in an interesting way. :)
